5-DAYS
This course is designed
for both current firearms instructors and those who desire to become firearms
instructors for their department. The course specifically addresses shoulder
fired weapons to include shotguns, rifles/carbines, and sub-machineguns
including select fire weapon systems. Shoulder fired weapons often are not
included in many firearms instructor courses or subject to limited instruction
compared to the pistol. Instruction in the shooting fundamentals, operation and
functioning, care and maintenance, and ballistics, is given in the classroom.
Tactical use and employment instruction is conducted on the range through live
fire drills. In addition, methods of instruction are presented and students are
required to actually coach one another on the range. The use of the pistol will
be utilized in the transition and malfunction drills. The course not only provides tactical training with these
weapon systems, but emphasis is placed on providing instructor development
skills which will allow the student to instruct other officers in the safe and
tactical deployment of these weapon systems.
